Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka conducted bilateral discussions with United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres ahead of the 53rd Pacific Islands Forum Meeting in Nuku’alofa, Tonga, yesterday.
Rabuka emphasized that their conversations reaffirmed Fiji’s steadfast commitment to the core principles of the UN Charter since the nation joined the UN in 1970. He highlighted Fiji’s belief in multilateralism as a crucial strength in tackling global issues.
“Our ongoing participation on the international stage demonstrates our resilience and the significant role we play in fostering a better world,” he stated.
Additionally, Rabuka mentioned that he participated in a service at the Centenary Church with other Pacific Island leaders, seeking guidance and unity as they face the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead for the region.
