In an effort to enhance teamwork and underscore environmental awareness, Fijian Holdings Ltd (FHL) and its subsidiaries—Merchant Finance Ltd, FHL Properties Ltd, and Fijian Holdings Unit Trust—recently conducted a coastal clean-up along the Suva foreshore. This initiative took place on Saturday and is a vital part of FHL’s ongoing commitment to corporate social responsibility (CSR).
Participants gathered to clean the stretch between Suva Point and Albert Park, aiming to uplift cleanliness standards in urban areas. Sitiveni Koya, a representative of FHL, emphasized the initiative’s dual purpose: improving the environment while fostering collaboration among employees across different departments. “It’s our CSR responsibility, and we are delighted to participate in this campaign today,” he stated.
The event was held in cooperation with the Suva City Council and concluded with a morning tea at Albert Park Hall, celebrating the volunteers’ commitment to a cleaner, greener city. Koya reaffirmed FHL’s dedication to sustainable development, pledging to support initiatives that positively impact both the environment and the communities they serve.
This clean-up initiative aligns with a growing trend across Fiji, where various organizations and community groups are actively participating in environmental campaigns, showcasing a collective desire for positive change. Similar efforts have been observed in other parts of the country, marking an encouraging movement towards better environmental practices and community collaboration.
Such actions not only enhance local ecosystems but also instill a sense of civic pride and responsibility among participants. The ongoing commitment displayed by FHL and similar organizations reflects hope for a cleaner, healthier future for Fiji’s communities and natural landscapes. By engaging in these community-oriented projects, companies and volunteers alike contribute to a significantly positive impact in preserving Fiji’s beautiful environment.
