Last Sunday marked a significant occasion of reflection and celebration as congregations throughout Fiji held their final church services of the year 2025. These gatherings, characterized by quiet morning worship and vibrant afternoon events, saw Christians from various traditions unite in prayer, praise, and the reading of scripture to close the spiritual year.
The Methodist Church of Fiji and Rotuma attracted large numbers for their annual year-end service. Participants engaged in Bible readings that emphasized God’s unwavering presence and the hope that persists through life’s many changes. This sense of community and shared faith was palpable throughout the ceremonies.
Catholic parishes also commemorated the occasion with a final Sunday Mass imbued with deep solemnity. Notably, at the Sacred Heart Cathedral in Suva, married couples were invited to renew their vows, a meaningful act reaffirming their commitment both to God and to one another.
During the service, Archbishop Peter Loy Chong delivered an inspiring message centered on family life. He encouraged husbands to lead with self-sacrifice, honor their wives’ dignity, and establish homes founded on Christ-like love. This message served as a modern reminder of the importance of strengthening spiritual commitments within family dynamics.
Church leaders across all denominations encouraged their congregations to carry the peace and lessons learned in 2025 into the new year, emphasizing the importance of faith and community as guiding principles. This shared commitment promises to foster unity and resilience as they step into the future together.
