Air Terminal Services (Fiji) Pte Ltd has announced that workers affected by COVID-19-related terminations will receive compensation. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, Professor Biman Prasad, is set to officially unveil the compensation package today.

Approximately 285 ATS employees were let go during the height of the pandemic but were later reinstated following the return of the Coalition Government to power. These workers have already received goodwill payments ranging from $3,000 to $5,000 as part of the acknowledgment of their hardships during this difficult period.

Attendees at the announcement include both ATS management and union representatives, highlighting the collaborative approach to resolving this issue.

In a positive note, this initiative not only brings relief to the affected workers but also reinforces the government’s commitment to supporting the workforce and restoring confidence in employment stability within the aviation sector. The compensation package underscores the emphasis on worker welfare and the vital role employees play in sustaining the economy, particularly as the country continues to recover from the impacts of the pandemic.

As demonstrated in previous reports, such as the dividends distributed to ATS employees and the government due to the company’s financial recovery, this focus on employee support is critical to fostering a strong and resilient labor force in Fiji.
