The Fiji Airways men’s 7s rugby team secured a commanding 33-12 victory over the United States in their second pool match during the HSBC Vancouver 7s tournament. Fiji’s performance was marked by an impressive opening as Joseva Talacolo scored an early try by skillfully dodging USA defenders to touch down beneath the goalposts.

The USA quickly responded, narrowing the score to 7-5 with a try of their own; however, Fiji’s Ilikimi Vunaki quickly countered by breaking through the USA defense for another try, extending the lead. As the first half drew to a close, the USA managed to score again, leaving the score at 14-12 as they entered halftime.

In the second half, Fiji displayed their dominance. Talacolo scored his second try of the match, pushing the score to 21-12. Viwa Naduvalo added a spectacular try from the corner with a dazzling goose-step move to evade defenders. The match concluded with Joji Nasova sealing Fiji’s victory with a final try.

Looking ahead, Fiji is set to face Spain in their next match at 6:52 AM. Given their strong performance against the USA, there is optimism that Fiji can maintain their momentum and continue to showcase their talent throughout the tournament.
