The Vodafone Fijiana XV will compete in Pool B with Canada, Scotland, and Wales, with the complete draw schedule expected to be announced shortly. The tournament will feature a thrilling array of matches from September 7 through October 28, 2025.
Alana Thomas, Manager of the FRU Women’s High Performance Unit, shared her excitement about the upcoming Women’s Rugby World Cup. “Being placed in such a competitive pool reflects the development of women’s rugby in Fiji. We are ready to embrace the challenge and proudly represent our country,” Thomas stated.
“The Vodafone Fijiana XV is thrilled that the pool draw is finalized, and we can now prepare for our opponents in England next August. This Rugby World Cup is anticipated to be a pivotal moment for women’s rugby,” she added.
Following a recent northern tour that included a match against Scotland, which did not yield the desired outcome, Thomas noted that the experience was valuable in understanding the Six Nations style of rugby. Additionally, the tour provided the team with exposure to different weather conditions and the challenges of long-term travel, all of which can influence performance.
The Vodafone Fijiana XV has recently returned home after participating in the WXV3 competition in Dubai and has completed their exit review. The team will take a brief break before regrouping in November to begin training.
Thomas expressed her gratitude to both players and staff for their efforts this season, which has been the most significant in Fijiana XV’s history. The team played 11 test matches, secured their qualification for the Rugby World Cup, claimed the Oceania Championship, and achieved their first victory against Japan.
