ALFREDA Fisher and Adi Salote Nailolo are set to join the Fiji Airways Fijiana 7s squad for the upcoming Singapore and Perth 7s tournaments. They will be joined by Kolora Lomani, who was previously part of the national women’s 7s team that competed in the 2024 Olympic Games in France.
The trio, who all contributed to the Fijiana 15s Women’s Rugby World Cup team last year, have successfully transitioned to the 7s format following weeks of intensive training. Their skills were on display at the recent Coral Coast Fiji 7s, where they played a crucial role in helping the shadow Fijiana 7s side retain their title.
Head coach Richard Walker has also decided to maintain a strong core group of players, including Verenaisi Ditavutu, Adimereani Rogosau, Sera Bolatini, Sesenieli Donu, Ana Maria Naimasi, Adi Vani Buleki, Reapi Uluinasau, Mariana Talatoka, and Silika Qalo.
As they prepare for the Singapore 7s, scheduled for January 31 to February 1, the Fijiana will face tough competition in Pool A, which includes Australia, Japan, and the USA. The team’s recent successes and strong roster highlight their potential as they approach this exciting series of tournaments.
