Front-rower Bulou Wainikiti Vasuturaga has secured her position in the 32-member Vodafone Fijiana 15s squad as preparations ramp up for the 2025 Oceania Rugby Women’s Championship. Having previously represented Fiji at the XV Rugby World Cup in 2022, Vasuturaga showcased her skills during the Na Soko Championship, effectively impressing national selectors.

Head coach Iona Cunningham has integrated a mix of experience and emerging talents into the squad, including the introduction of four new players: Michellae Stolz, Selai Naliva, Noame Komaitai, and Adi Salote Nailolo. Noteworthy veterans such as Bitila Tawake, Rusila Nagasau, Asinate Serevi, Iris Verebalavu, and Jade Coates will return to provide leadership and stability.

“This tournament serves as a crucial stepping stone as we prepare for the Rugby World Cup,” emphasized Cunningham, underscoring the focus on building depth and developing team combinations following strong showings against top-tier opponents. The championship will take place from June 6 to June 14, 2025, pitting Fiji against Pacific rivals Tonga and Samoa, thus providing essential experience and cohesion ahead of the World Cup.

The squad has been carefully curated to blend veteran leadership with promising new talent, reflecting an overarching commitment to not only support the current roster but to inspire future generations of female rugby players in Fiji. The strategic approach signifies optimism for the Fijiana 15s as they look to maintain their reputation as a competitive force on the international rugby stage. Fans can anticipate thrilling performances and potentially another successful championship run as the squad heads into this pivotal tournament.
