Adam Khan, the under-20 halfback for Sportsworld Fiji, along with his teammate Iliesa Baravilala, has taken to YouTube to share their experiences in Fiji with family members back in Australia. The duo decided to create vlogs to give their loved ones a glimpse into their training routines, game preparations, and the vibrant Fijian lifestyle. Khan expressed their intentions, saying, “We decided to get a camera this year so our family back home can see what we’ve been experiencing at camp.”

The young athletes recently faced tough competition against New Zealand teams during the Super Rugby U20 tournament, held in March, where Khan praised the high caliber of rugby talent they encountered. “New Zealand boys are really good rugby players… We didn’t get the result that we wanted but we’re very proud of the boys and they played really well,” he reflected on the challenging matches.

Khan expressed gratitude for the opportunity to represent Fiji and the camaraderie among his teammates, noting that the 11 players based overseas have been welcomed warmly by local teammates. “Team bonding has been going well… The local boys are very welcoming to us and treat us very nicely,” he stated. As the team prepares for an upcoming match against Tonga at Prince Charles Park in Nadi, Khan remains optimistic, saying, “Hopefully I’ll get a career out of it.”

The narrative aligns with a broader trend in Fijian rugby where young athletes like Khan are not only honing their sporting skills but also documenting their journeys to inspire and connect with others. With the anticipation building around their match against Tonga, there is a hopeful outlook for both the players and Fijian rugby as a whole. The resilience and dedication displayed by these young athletes highlight the potential for future success and inspire younger generations to pursue their dreams in sports.
