About 38 players of Fijian descent are set to participate in this weekend’s Shop N Save Super Rugby Pacific competition, reflecting the growing impact of Fijian talent in the league. This number includes the 23-member Swire Shipping Fijian Drua squad and an additional 15 players who will represent other clubs.

The Swire Shipping Fijian Drua will face a strong challenge against the NSW Waratahs, who have included Langi Gleeson on their bench, signaling their strategic depth. Meanwhile, the Crusaders’ lineup features notable players such as halfback Noah Hotham, Levi Aumua, Chay Fihaki, and winger Sevu Reece, who stands just two tries shy of becoming Super Rugby’s all-time top try scorer. Prop George Bower will start on the bench while Blues coach Vern Cotter has retained Hoskins Sotutu at No.8.

The ACT Brumbies are also gearing up for a decisive match against Moana Pasifika, with powerhouse loosie Rob Valetini expected to shine at No.6. In addition, the Chiefs, led by Emoni Narawa on the wing, are hosting the Highlanders, who have a solid roster including Veveni Lasaqa, Jona Nareki, co-captain Timoci Tavatavanawai, and Jacob Ratumaitavuki-Kneepkens. The Hurricanes, known for their improved form, will deploy Isaia Walker-Leawere at lock during their clash with the Western Force in Perth.
