Fijian athletes displayed outstanding performances in various rugby competitions in Europe and Japan over the weekend.
In France’s Top 14 league, six Fijian players participated in a match between La Rochelle and Perpignan. Tavite Veredamu stood out by scoring his third try of the season, contributing to Perpignan’s 21-13 victory over La Rochelle. Other Fijian players on Perpignan’s roster included Alicereti Daugunu and Apisai Naqalevu. For La Rochelle, veteran flanker Levani Botia had a noteworthy game, making three turnovers and scoring at the 51st minute. Simelui Daunivucu and Suliasi Vunivalu also supported the team, although they couldn’t secure a win.
In another match, Semi Radradra scored his first try of the season for Lyon in a thrilling 15-all draw against Racing 92, while Vinaya Habosi and Josua Tuisova represented Racing, with Tuisova playing a vital role in defense.
Meanwhile, in Japan’s League One, Seta Tamanivalu was a key player for Toshiba Brave Lupus, scoring two tries and helping his team crush Mitsubishi Dynaboars 61-8. His exceptional gameplay included a setup for a teammate’s try. Unfortunately, Epeneri Uluiviti from the Dynaboars received a red card during the match.
Michael Little also shone for another team, earning the Man of the Match title for his contributions in a 36-18 victory against Canon Eagles. He gained 122 meters from nine carries, made three line breaks, and assisted a try, showcasing his offensive skills. Viliame Takayawa from the Canon Eagles scored two tries, marking an impressive start to the season with three tries in just two games.
