Fijian Football Star Thomas Dunn Set for A-League Trials with Sydney FC

Digicel Fiji Bula Boys and Navua attacker Thomas Dunn is set to depart for trials with A-League club Sydney FC this Sunday. The 21-year-old could become the second Fijian international to land an A-League contract if successful, following in the footsteps of Roy Krishna.

Team manager Kartik Reddy shared his excitement about the opportunity for Dunn to display his skills on a larger platform, with hopes of securing a spot with Sydney FC. “He will be attending training sessions and playing in friendly matches during his stay with the club from July 8 to 19,” Reddy stated.

Reddy lauded Dunn’s emergence as a prominent football talent and an inspiration for aspiring athletes in Fiji. “His remarkable journey, both on and off the field, has captivated fans and earned him recognition for the trials with the Australian professional soccer club based in Sydney, New South Wales.”

The Fiji Football Association (FA) will handle all responsibilities for Dunn’s trials in Sydney. “Fiji Football Association is assisting Dunn in terms of his welfare during his stay with the club. Fiji FA is thankful to its affiliate partners in Australia AUFFI and Fiji FA Liaison in Australia, Mr. Nick Sharma, for agreeing to provide necessary support to the player while in Sydney for the trials.”

Dunn began representing Navua at the age of 15 and has shown consistent progress since then. In addition to his contributions to the Senior National Men’s team, Dunn has prominently featured for the Fiji U16, U17, U20, and U23 teams. He also spent a year in Melbourne on a student visa, playing for several domestic clubs there.
