Chandra Segran, a prominent figure in Fijian football, has been formally welcomed into the Fiji Football Association’s Legends Club as its 84th member. This recognition highlights his remarkable contributions to the sport both within Fiji and on an international scale.

Segran began his football journey in Rakiraki Nanuku, where he climbed the ranks to become a respected referee, instructor, and administrator, leaving a significant mark in the world of Fijian football. In a heartfelt interview with Fiji FA media, Segran expressed his gratitude for this honor, stating, “I am honored to be inducted into the Fiji FA Legends. I thank Fiji FA for recognizing the efforts of former players and officials who have worked hard to put Fiji on the football map.”

Fiji FA president Rajesh Patel praised Segran’s achievements, noting his critical role in enhancing the profile of Fijian football. Patel asserted, “This induction is a well-deserved recognition of his lifelong dedication to football.”

Segran’s journey in refereeing began in 1980, and he gained international acclaim as a Fiji FA Assistant referee from 1912 to 1998. His skills allowed him to officiate prominent matches, drawing global attention to Fijian talent. In 1997, he advanced to a FIFA instructor position, where he mentored referees throughout the Pacific. By 2000, he was instrumental in establishing development standards for referees in Fiji.

From 2001 to 2012, he played a pivotal role in managing the Fiji FA Ba academy, fostering youth football development in the region. Segran’s legacy in Fijian football continues to resonate, with his induction into the Legends Club serving as a lasting testament to his passion and influence in the sport.
