The Swire Shipping Fijian Drua is gearing up for the highly anticipated Hong Kong 7s and the upcoming 2025 Shop N Save Super Rugby season. A host of promising young players are vying for a spot on the Fiji Airways Fiji Men’s 7s team, including fullback Isikeli Basiyalo and flyhalf Aisea Nawai from the Drua development squad, alongside the standout Apete Narogo, who recently showcased his talents as the best player in the Fiji Bitter Nahehevia 7s while representing Semi Radradra’s Ubuntu team.

Fiji 7s head coach Osea Kolinisau acknowledges the considerable potential of these players, noting their impressive combination of power and speed. However, he stresses the importance of performance consistency and fitting into the team dynamics, stating, “I’ve been keeping in contact with Glen Jackson about getting some boys to gain game time. It’s not a guarantee, but if they fit in well and prove themselves, I won’t hesitate to select them.”

With just three weeks remaining before the Hong Kong 7s, the competitive selection process allows the coaching staff to closely evaluate these emerging talents and assess their potential roles within the team. This commitment to nurturing young athletes underscores Fiji’s dedication to enhancing its rugby legacy and breeds optimism for success in the forthcoming competitions.

The enthusiasm of players like Basiyalo, Nawai, and Narogo highlights the wealth of skill within Fijian rugby, offering a promising outlook for the future of the team. As they embark on intensive training ahead of these crucial tournaments, fans can maintain a hopeful perspective on the bright prospects for the Fijian Drua and its players on the international stage.

This development not only fosters a sense of anticipation among fans but also reinforces the ongoing effort to build a strong competitive squad that can deliver exciting performances in upcoming events.
