The Fijian Drua have made significant strides toward securing their future by announcing contract extensions for three key players as they prepare for the upcoming Super Rugby Pacific seasons.
Front-rower Haereiti Hetet has solidified his commitment to the club through the 2027 season. The influential player has been with the Drua since its inaugural season in 2022 and has since played 39 matches, scoring once. In addition to his performance at the club level, Hetet has represented the Flying Fijians, earning 24 Test caps from 2020 to 2025, which includes participation in the Rugby World Cup.
Head coach Glen Jackson praised Hetet’s retention, calling him a cornerstone of the squad and emphasizing his dual role as a senior presence within the team and a reliable performer on the world stage.
Utility back Isikeli Rabitu has also signed a contract extension that keeps him with the Drua until 2028. The talented back began his journey with the Drua in 2024, accumulating 14 appearances and scoring four tries. Rabitu’s rapid ascent from the Deans Competition to representing Fiji at the Under-20 level highlights his potential as a rising star.
Winger Taniela Rakuro has also committed to the Drua through 2028. Since his debut in 2023, Rakuro has made 23 appearances and found the try-line nine times, tying him with co-captain Frank Lomani for second place on the club’s all-time try-scoring list. His standout performances earned him a Test debut during the 2025 Pacific Nations Cup against Tonga, where he has since earned five caps for Fiji.
Jackson emphasized the value of retaining Hetet, Rabitu, and Rakuro, as their contributions will be essential as the Drua strive for continued success. With a strong core of talent secured for the years ahead, fans can look forward to a promising future for the club in the Super Rugby Pacific landscape.
