The Fijian Drua has officially made its way to Kadavu for a week-long pre-season training camp. The team has set up their base in Namalata Village, the home of Nacanieli Cawanibuka, the Head of Athletic Performance for the Drua.

To honor local customs, the players will begin their camp with traditional rites towards the chief of the village, followed by their first training session this afternoon. Lock forward Suliasi Vukaokalo expressed enthusiasm about the upcoming week, emphasizing that the change in environment will be beneficial for the team. “It’s going to be an exciting camp for us,” Vukaokalo noted. “Sometimes it’s good to take us out of our comfort zone and take us somewhere there are no distractions.” He also highlighted the importance of making the most of their time together before the break for holidays.

Additionally, the Drua squad is scheduled to play an exhibition match against the Kadavu Rugby Union team on Thursday, which promises to be an exciting highlight of the week.

This pre-season camp not only offers the team a chance to focus on training without distractions but also allows them to connect with the local community through traditional customs and a friendly match. Such initiatives can foster stronger local support and deeper connections within the sport.

Overall, this camp signifies a positive step forward for the Fijian Drua as they prepare for the season ahead.
