The McDonald’s Coral Coast 7s is proving to be essential for the Swire Shipping Fijian Drua as they gear up for the upcoming Shop N Save Supermarket Super Rugby Pacific season. Drua 7s head coach Nemani Nadolo underscored the significance of this tournament in developing the squad and integrating both senior and development players into the Drua environment.

Competing in front of enthusiastic home fans against formidable opponents, Nadolo emphasized the importance of this stage in the pre-season. He stated that the tournament serves as invaluable match exposure, allowing players to adapt and grow within the team.

“A competition like this that’s really strong, it’s up there. It’s great exposure for our senior players but also our development boys. It gives them an opportunity to taste what it is to wear the Fiji Drua jersey and it’s great for us,” Nadolo remarked.

Reflecting on the team’s performance at the Coral Coast 7s, he noted an increase in composure and unity among the players. “We know how good we can be and just to see the boys express themselves was crucial. For me, it was more about going out there, expressing themselves and working together as a unit, and I think we showed that today,” Nadolo added.

In addition to honing skills, the tournament is an important factor in managing player workloads, especially for those returning from injuries, as the Drua finalize their preparations for Super Rugby Pacific.

The Coral Coast 7s continues today at Lawaqa Park in Sigatoka, with live coverage available on FBC Sports, providing fans an exciting opportunity to support their team and witness the future stars of Fiji rugby in action. This tournament not only strengthens the squad but also fosters passion and unity among players and fans alike, showcasing the vibrant culture of rugby in Fiji.
