The Swire Shipping Fijian Drua is focusing on strengthening its lineup for the 2025 Shop N Save Super Rugby competition. Forwards coach Chris Gibbes has identified key areas for improvement, specifically the No.6 and No.8 positions. He clarified that reshuffling existing players, like Te Ahiwaru Cirikidaveta, is not the intended strategy but rather to explore new talent.

The team is excited to welcome robust flanker Joseva Tamani back after his stint at the French club Colomiers. Tamani is recognized for his dynamic play and is expected to make a significant impact in one of the identified positions.

Young talent Isoa Tuwai is also in the mix for these roles. The promising player from the Suva Rugby team has impressed many, showcasing his versatility as he shifted from inside center to flanker over the years. Gibbes is optimistic about the potential contributions from both Tamani and Tuwai as the Drua aims to enhance their roster.

After reaching the Shop N Save Super Rugby quarterfinals for two consecutive seasons, the Drua is eager to build upon their success. They are preparing for the upcoming McDonald’s Fiji Coral Coast Sevens tournament in Sigatoka, set for January 16-18 next year. The team has a lineup of aspiring young players aiming to prove themselves, including Isikeli Rabitu, Philip Baselala, Aisea Nawai, and others.

The Drua players are currently taking a break to recharge with their families and friends before resuming training in the New Year. With the right focus and preparation, they remain hopeful about strong performances in the upcoming events.

This period allows the team to refresh and regroup, ensuring that they come back stronger for what lies ahead. The blend of experienced players and emerging talents promises an exciting season for fans of the Fijian Drua.
