SWIRE Shipping Fijian Drua head coach Glen Jackson has expressed his strong belief in the critical role of the club’s development team as they gear up for the exciting 2026 season of the Shop N Save Super Rugby Pacific competition. During a recent content day held at the club’s base in Legalega, Nadi, Jackson emphasized the importance of nurturing young talent within the organization.

“Always massively important,” Jackson remarked when asked about the development squad’s significance. He noted that the Fijian Drua has been particularly successful in promoting players from its development system into the senior squad, a testament to the effective pipeline they have cultivated.

The announcement of the team’s roster on Monday featured 12 new players ready to step in and fill the roles of former development players like Isoa Tuwai and Aisea Nawai, who have been elevated to the main squad. Jackson expressed confidence in the capabilities of these development players to rise to the challenge when called upon, stating, “I don’t have any concerns about bringing a young boy out into Super Rugby; some of these development players could easily play again for Super Rugby.”

Highlighting the contributions of Nemani Nadolo-Kuridrani, the development team’s coach, Jackson acknowledged his influence in shaping the players’ journey. “His experience and understanding of winning rugby are huge for the club,” Jackson added, praising the positive attitude and commitment displayed by the young athletes under Nadolo-Kuridrani’s mentorship.

The newly announced development squad comprises Bogi Kikau, Breyton Legge, Harold Rounds, JD Sivivatu Kanth, Jeneiro Wakeham, Joshua Uluibau, Joweli Walevu, Kalioni Ratunabuabua, Maleli Nauvasi, Moses Armstrong-Ravula, Pita Manamanaivalu, and Sairusi Ravudi. With Jackson’s leadership and the support of seasoned coaches, the Fijian Drua’s future looks promising as they prepare for a competitive season ahead.
