Fijian cruiserweight boxing champion Alivereti Kauyaca demonstrated his skills in New Zealand at the Fight Night IV event on Saturday. Kauyaca secured a victory against Kiwi fighter Remus Leaf, who also competes in MMA and kickboxing, winning by unanimous decision after four rounds.
This match marked Kauyaca’s inaugural international bout as he readies himself for a significant challenge against New Zealand’s cruiserweight champion John Parker next month.
In a post on his social media, the former student of Queen Victoria School expressed gratitude to those who came to support him, saying, “God bless to my old boys and family who came from far away to provide the much-needed support. Your cheer amongst the loud Kiwi crowd echoed in my ears.” He also hinted at an even better performance to come, stating, “7th September. We are going to dance much better.”
The ‘Hitman’ from Bukuya, Ba, is scheduled to face Parker on September 7 for the WBO Oceania cruiserweight title in Hamilton. At 30 years old, Kauyaca has been with CTP Boxing Promotions since March of this year and currently trains under manager and coach Farmaan Ali.
