A vibrant opportunity is on the horizon for young boys eager to showcase their skills in ‘qiri kava’ and drum beating, as a competition is set to take place this weekend. Organized by Aruka Fiji, a non-governmental organization, this event aims to unite youths and foster dialogue on pressing social issues impacting their communities.
Inoke Drauna, the director of Aruka Fiji, expressed the organization’s commitment to empowering young people and emphasizing their importance in Fijian society. Alongside fostering collaboration and shared ideas, the competition will offer enticing prizes totaling $1,800, with awards of $1,000 for first place, $500 for second, and $300 for third.
Drauna highlighted that discussions around the challenges faced by the youth are crucial, saying, “This is very important and we want our young people to know that they also matter in Fiji.” This sentiment reflects a broader initiative to uplift and support the younger generation.
Groups interested in participating are encouraged to call 1528 to register, and details regarding the venue will be confirmed shortly. This event not only promises excitement but also serves as a platform for youth engagement and community expression.
