Zoe Maharaj Moore has been remanded by the Suva Magistrates Court following her arrest during a joint police operation. This operation involved the Serious Organised Crime and Intelligence Department, the Fiji Police Force Southern Division Taskforce, and the Fiji Police Detector Dog Unit, which took place last Friday.

Moore faces multiple charges, including unlawful possession of illicit drugs, specifically methamphetamine, possession of property believed to be proceeds of crime, possession of breaking implements, and unlawful possession of explosives. The latter charge is particularly notable as authorities believe that the explosive device found in her possession may be a grenade, although it has yet to be verified. Reports indicate that the device is categorized as a non-lethal disorientation tool typically utilized by defense forces.

During today’s court proceedings, Defense lawyer Isimeli Keteca sought bail for his client, citing her health issues, specifically gastritis, which requires medical care. However, the police prosecutor opposed the bail application, referencing Moore’s history of reoffending and previous breaches of bail conditions. Keteca also highlighted that at the time of her arrest, Moore was a passenger, not the driver of the vehicle in question.

The magistrate has postponed the bail application and instructed the defense to submit a formal bail request. The case is scheduled to resume on the 24th of this month, as the court continues to address the serious allegations against Moore.

This case underscores ongoing efforts by law enforcement to tackle organized crime and illegal activities, showcasing the diligence of the Fiji Police Force in maintaining public safety.
