Weather Update Alert!
Brought to you live from the National Weather Forecasting Centre, Nadi, at 7:30 PM on January 4, 2026.

Let’s talk about the weather! There’s a mysterious low-pressure system hanging out just northeast of Fiji, slowly making its way westward. Think of it as that friend who just won’t leave the party. This atmospheric visitor is sending moisture-driven winds our way, courtesy of a very damp northeast to southeast breeze.

Here’s the scoop for the Fiji group until midnight tomorrow: Expect some occasional showers that may come with an extra surprise – isolated thunderstorms in the afternoon or evening. Heavy rains will especially be drumming up a storm today over Vanua Levu, Taveuni, nearby isles, and the Northern Lau group. If you’re out and about, it might be a good idea to carry an umbrella – or perhaps a canoe – just in case.

For those in Serua-Namosi, Navua-Suva-Nausori, Tailevu, Naitasiri, Ra, Southern Lau, Lomaiviti, Yasawa, Kadavu, and the smaller neighboring islands, cloudy intervals will make the day feel moody, punctuated by afternoon or evening showers and thunder rumbling like an angry stomach after a bad lunch.

The silver lining? For the rest of the country, it’s looking fine – except for those pesky isolated afternoon or evening showers and potential thunderstorms that may want to crash your outdoor plans.

Just remember, persistent heavy rain could lead to flash flooding in low-lying areas. So, if you’re prone to take scenic routes through puddles, be cautious!

As for wind, expect moderate southeast to northeast breezes, freshening up at times with seas that range from moderate to rough – perfect for a thrill ride on those waves!

Here’s your weather outlook for Tuesday: Cloudy periods will continue to grace our skies with scattered showers and isolated heavyfalls and thunderstorms over Vanua Levu, Taveuni, and the Southern Lau group. These regions might need to keep their raincoats handy. Elsewhere, it’ll be partly cloudy with scattered showers – kind of like that awkward guest who hangs around just a little too long.

Let’s dive into some specific areas:
For Navua / Suva / Nausori, tomorrow expect min: 24°C, max: 31°C. So, you might just end up wishing for a snow day instead!

In Natadradave/Korovou, it’s a similar story with the temperatures – min: 24°C, max: 30°C – and don’t forget that trusty umbrella for the occasional dramatic thunderclap!

If you’re at the Sigatoka/Coral Coast, it’s looking fine, apart from those afternoon or evening thunderstorms. Keep your rain gear nearby! Min: 23°C, max: 31°C.

Those heading towards Nadi/Lautoka/Ba will have fairly charming weather tomorrow, with a max of 33°C. Perfect weather for a swim, just mind the occasional thunderstorm crashing the beach party!

For Tavua/Rakiraki, the story is the same – isolated showers should be expected.

Yasawa/Mamanuca will also see some heavy falls while keeping it generally fine elsewhere. Min: 23°C, max: 32°C.

On to Labasa – today brings those occasional downpours, while tomorrow could see similar weather patterns with heavy expectations. Min: 23°C, max: 33°C.

Savusavu won’t dodge the rain tomorrow with similar forecasts, so pack accordingly!

Don’t worry, Rotuma is looking like a fine paradise with moderate winds. Tomorrow: Min: 26°C, Max: 31°C – perfect!

So, no matter where you are in beautiful Fiji, be prepared for the wet and wonderful weather – and make sure to keep your feet dry… or at least try to!
