Weather Update – March 19, 2025
Well, folks, it looks like we’ve got ourselves a weak trough of low pressure hanging around Fiji, like that friend who shows up to your party but doesn’t contribute to the snacks. This weakling seems to be a bit of a slowpoke, but it’s bringing along some clouds and showers that will be crashing the weather scene for the next few days.
As for the forecast before the sun pulls a disappearing act tomorrow, expect some occasional showers and the possibility of those dramatic isolated thunderstorms—especially in the eastern half of Viti Levu (that’s Serua/Namosi through Navua to Suva, Nausori up to Tailevu North). Lau and Lomaiviti groups, Kadavu, and those smaller islands nearby might feel a little shower envy as well. And be warned, the showers might just bulk up into rain.
Cakaudrove and the southern region of Bua will get a dose of cloudy periods with some showers too.
Elsewhere, it’s looking fine for most, though don’t be surprised if some sneaky afternoon or evening showers decide to ruin your plans for an al fresco dinner.
And for those in Viti Levu and Vanua Levu, be prepared for some heavy afternoon thunderstorm celebrations—just make sure your umbrellas are at the ready. Localized heavy falls could lead to flash floods in the low-lying or flood-prone areas, so be cautious!
The forecast tomorrow? Well, Friday is trending towards occasional rain and a few thunderstorms for Lau, Lomaiviti, and the eastern half of Viti Levu. So, pack those umbrellas, folks, because it looks like the clouds are planning a long stay.
For Navua, Suva, and Nausori: expect occasional showers with isolated thunderstorms. Those rain showers might crank it up a notch.
In Nadi, Lautoka, and Ba: enjoy the sunshine, with just a sprinkle of afternoon or evening showers lurking around.
On the Coral Coast, it’s similar—a fine setup but keep your eyes peeled for those pesky afternoon showers.
For Tavua and Rakiraki: prepare for occasional showers with some heavy thunder rolling through.
The Yasawa/Mamanuca group should enjoy fine weather—until the isolated afternoon or evening showers decide to join in.
Labasa, you’re looking good overall, just a few shady guests in the afternoon or evening.
Savusavu, you’re in for a cloudy day with some showers and those hefty afternoon thunderstorms looming around.
And as for Lau, Lomaiviti, and Kadavu, expect some occasional showers and isolated thunderstorms, with rain making a guest appearance tomorrow.
Last but not least, Rotuma is experiencing the classic easterly wind flow with cloudy periods and isolated showers. Just a gentle reminder from nature, moderate to rough seas are still making waves!
So grab your ponchos and enjoy your day, but be cautious out there!
