Buckle up, folks, because it seems the weather gods have decided to throw a little rain dance over the northern parts of Fiji. A lazy trough of low pressure has parked itself over the area, and guess what? It’s got some friends—clouds and rain are planning a little get-together, so if you live up north, you might want to grab your raincoat and the inflatable duck.
For the next 24 hours, expect some occasional rain that could be described as heavy at times—just like that one uncle at family gatherings—and a few sassy thunderstorms in the Northern Division, along with the Lau and Lomaiviti groups. But fear not! The downpour should ease to a more cheerful shower spree tomorrow.
In the spotlight of our weather show, we have Sigatoka, Serua-Namosi, Navua-Suva-Nausori, Tailevu, Naitasiri, Ra, Yasawa, Kadavu, and their smaller island buddies—all set for occasional showers with a splash of isolated heavy falls. Elsewhere, it’s mostly fine with just a smattering of afternoon or evening showers—perfect weather for your pet goldfish who’s been longing for a thirst-quenching sip of ambiance.
Just a reminder, though: persistent heavy rain could lead to flash flooding in low-lying areas, so keep your rubber boots at the ready!
And what about our winds? Well, they’ve decided to go all moderate to fresh, flowing in from the northwest to southeasterly, giving you a slight breeze to cool those rain-induced humid moments. As for the sea, it’s moderate to rough, which is the universe’s way of providing an authentic aquatic thrill ride.
Now, as we glance ahead to Tuesday: The Northern Division, Lau, and Lomaiviti are still in the occasional rain and thunderstorms business. Serua-Namosi, Navua-Suva-Nausori, Tailevu, Naitasiri, Ra, Yasawa, Kadavu, and smaller islands can expect cloudy periods with some showers to follow, likely making seashells regret all their life choices.
For Navua, Suva, and Nausori: It’ll be a shower affair with the potential for isolated heavy falls. If you’re in Nadi, Lautoka, or Ba, you can enjoy fine weather—well, as fine as a few stray afternoon or evening showers and thunderstorms will allow.
And let’s not forget our friends in Sigatoka and the Coral Coast; they’ll see occasional showers with a chance of heavy falls.
In Tavua/Rakiraki: It will be relatively calm, except for a possible surprise thunderstorm or two in the afternoon.
The Yasawa and Mamanuca groups can expect showers to occasionally disrupt the sunshine, while Labasa and Savusavu will have rainfall heavy enough to make you contemplate building an ark.
And finally, for Kadavu and Rotuma, expect some periodic showers and the possibility of an aquatic encore featuring thunderstorms.
So, grab those umbrellas and get ready for a splashy week ahead! Stay tuned for more weather updates, and remember—whether rain or shine, it’s always a good day to smile and stay dry!
