Situation: Hold onto your hats, folks! A south to southwest wind is sweeping across Fiji, playing a gentle game of “Guess Who” with the clouds. We’ve got a weak trough lurking southwest of Fiji, planning a little trip northeast that’s bound to mess with our sunny vibes starting tomorrow. By Sunday, this cloud party will be just northeast of us – and you know what that means… showers and potential thunderstorms might crash the festivities!
Forecast to midnight tomorrow for the Fiji group:
Today: It’s mainly fine out there; perfect for showing off those new sunglasses. Just a few brief afternoon or evening showers might try to photobomb your plans, especially in the interior Ba, Ra, Tavua-Vatukoula, Rakiraki, Northern Bua, Dreketi-Seaqaqa, Labasa-Nadogo, and Namuka-Dogotuki areas. We’ve also got moderate south to southwest winds and seas calm enough for a lazy float!
Tomorrow: Tick-tock! Cloudy periods are making their grand entrance, accompanied by a few showers that are a little shy, but might peek out here and there. Expect some isolated afternoon or evening showers and thunderstorm activities targeting the Eastern parts of the larger islands and the Lau and Lomaiviti groups. Keep those raincoats handy – localized heavy downpours could turn low-lying areas into surprise swimming pools!
Outlook for Sunday: Mostly fine, a welcome relief after our turbulent guest, with only a smattering of afternoon or evening showers and thunderstorms in tow. Pack your umbrella just in case, especially in Vanua Levu, Taveuni, and the northern Lau group.
