Situation: A rather lazy trough of low pressure is lingering over our lovely islands, with some clouds and showers tagging along for the ride. Meanwhile, a playful easterly wind flow seems to be keeping the mood just humid enough to remind us that it is, indeed, the tropics.

Forecast until midnight tomorrow for the Fiji group:
We’re in for a rollercoaster ride of occasional showers, with a few heavy falls and thunderstorms trying to steal the spotlight, especially over Vanua Levu, Taveuni, and some of their smaller neighbors, along with eastern Viti Levu [areas such as Serua-Namosi, Navua-Suva-Nausori, Naitasiri-Tailevu-Ra], Lau, and the Lomaiviti groups. Showers are expected to tone it down to a more manageable level from tomorrow. For those elsewhere, expect some cloudy stretches with afternoon or evening showers and the occasional dramatic thunderstorm to keep things exciting.

Watch out! Isolated heavy falls and thunderstorms may surprise you, while persistent heavy rains could lead to flash flooding in those low-lying spots that just love turning into mini-lakes. On the wind front, we have moderate to fresh easterly winds, getting a little gusty when the thunderstorms kick in. Sea conditions are moderate to rough, so save the surfing for another day unless you’re feeling adventurous!

Outlook for Wednesday: A mix of cloudy periods and showers over eastern Viti Levu and the Lau and Lomaiviti groups, Cakaudrove, Southern Bua, and Yasawa group. For everyone else, the skies will seem fine, although you might want to keep an umbrella handy for those afternoon or evening showers and potential thunderstorms. Wind-wise, expect moderate to fresh southeasterly breezes and the seas holding onto their moderate to rough attitude.
