Weather Update – Saturday, January 3, 2026
Good morning, Fiji! If you woke up today expecting sunshine and clear blue skies, I’m sad to say that Mother Nature has different plans. She’s decided that a comfortable sprinkle of rain is in order, especially for the eastern parts of our lovely islands. You might want to keep your umbrellas handy because we have a trough of low pressure in town, tagging along with some cloud cover and good old-fashioned showers!
As we move through the day, expect occasional showers serenading us from the Coral Coast all the way to Navua, and down through the Greater Suva/Nausori-Tailevu area, plus those beautiful, sometimes drizzly provinces of Ra-Naitasiri, Serua-Namosi, Southern Bua, and Cakudrove. Lau and the Lomaiviti group are also packing their raincoats, while Kadavu and its nearby islands are bracing for some rain action. Elsewhere, we may see a few isolated afternoon or evening drizzles – just enough to keep you guessing if you should wear shoes or sandals.
Watch out! There could be some isolated thunderstorms happening that might decide to drop a bit of extra water, potentially causing a little flash flooding in low-lying areas. So, if you’re frequently jumping over puddles, keep an eye on the skies!
In terms of wind, expect a merry dance of moderate to fresh breezes blowing from the south to northeast. The seas? Well, let’s say they could be a bit moderate to rough – perfect for the adventurous sailor looking for some waves!
Now, looking ahead to Sunday, we get a continuation of our water-themed forecast with occasional showers and those isolated heavy falls sticking around. So, plan your beach day accordingly—water and sand are a classic combination, after all!
Here’s a quick glance at temperatures today (and don’t forget, a rain jacket is essential):
– Navua/Suva/Nausori: Showers with a min of 23°C and a glorious max of 30°C (because rain can’t stop the warmth).
– Natadradave/Korovou & Sigatoka/Coral Coast: Same weather vibes, same temperature values.
– Nadi/Lautoka/Ba: Just fine with possibilities for those afternoon rain surprises (Min: 23°C, Max: 32°C).
– Taveuni, Labasa, Savusavu: Showers, showers, and more showers—keeping temperatures between 23°C and 33°C.
And for those on Rotuma, it looks like you’ll be the lucky ones under mainly fine skies (Min: 25°C, Max: 32°C). You can bring out the sunscreen with maybe just a dash of caution for occasional showers.
So there you have it! Make sure to embrace the wet and wild side of Fiji’s weather. After all, every cloud has a silver lining, right? Or in this case, a raincoat! Enjoy your day!
