Weather Update

Brought to you by the National Weather Forecasting Centre Nadi at the slightly more exciting hour of 7:30pm on Tuesday, March 4th, 2025.

So, here’s the scoop: a lazy trough of low pressure is hanging out to Fiji’s east, while a welcoming moist northwesterly wind is throwing a party over the Northern and Eastern divisions. Meanwhile, a southwesterly wind flow is busy trying to steal the show elsewhere. And brace yourselves—another weak trough is expected to crash the party starting tomorrow!

Tonight’s forecast for the lively Fijian archipelago includes occasional showers and the potential for isolated thunderstorms. Northern Division, Yasawa, and the Lau groups might just get a little too carried away with isolated heavy falls—so watch where you’re stepping!

Don’t worry too much if you live in Serua-Namosi, Sigatoka, Nadi-Lautoka-Ba, Tavua-Rakiraki, Interior Ba, or Interior Nadroga-Navosa. You might be spared some of the rain drama, enjoying fine weather with just brief showers. Similarly, Cadavu and the nearby islands, along with the Lomaiviti and Mamanuca groups, should have a lovely evening—at least until those cheeky afternoon or evening showers decide to show up tomorrow.

Expect moderate to fresh winds rustling through from the southwest to northwest, moderate to rough seas, and probably a fish or two wondering why everyone’s hunkered down!

Looking ahead to Thursday, get ready for a mostly cloudy day with some showers over most areas. Viti Levu’s eastern half could see some afternoon thunderstorms, making it a great day to invest in a sturdy umbrella or find a nice cozy spot indoors.

Now, let’s break it down by region, shall we?

For Navua/Suva/Nausori: Expect fine weather punctuated by some afternoon or evening showers. Showers are also gearing up to join the fun tomorrow.

For the bustling halls of Nadi/Lautoka/Ba: They’ll remain fine with just brief interruptions by showers and yes, tomorrow, those showery shenanigans continue!

Sigatoka and the Coral Coast: Just fine, with brief showers popping by. Tomorrow should see a repeat.

Over in Tavua/Rakiraki: Expect a good share of clouds and showers, as those fluffy friends move in tomorrow.

Yasawa/Mamanuca groups: Enjoy fine weather interspersed with a few brief showers in the Mamanuca group. More showers are looming around the corner!

For Labasa: Be prepared for occasional showers and some solitary thunderous friends, plus a chance of heavy falls—watch out for flash flooding!

Savusavu will also see some rain and possible thunderstorms. Keep an eye out for isolated heavy showers, making a splash starting tomorrow!

For Lau/Lomaiviti: Showers and possible thunderstorms will be a constant presence, particularly over Lau. The Lomaiviti group will enjoy more of a sprinkle.

Kadavu residents will get a fine day with merely brief showers—nothing too dramatic!

Last but certainly not least, Rotuma is on the radar with occasional rain and a few thunderstorms—so pack an umbrella if you’re out and about!

That’s your weather gossip for the day. Stay dry, stay safe, and may your rain dances be few and far between!
