Weather Update

Greetings from the National Weather Forecasting Centre, Nadi! It’s 5:30 AM on Sunday, July 13, 2025, and here’s the scoop on what you can expect on this fine day.

We’ve got a gentle east to northeast breeze wafting through the beautiful Fiji islands, as if it’s trying to cool down the sun’s enthusiasm for today. However, a moody little trough of low pressure is feeling rather dramatic just off to the west, planning to make its grand entrance later today with some cloud cover and rain—because who doesn’t love a bit of atmospheric tension?

Here’s what the forecast holds for everyone in the Fiji group until midnight tonight: Think partly cloudy skies with brief showers (or as we like to call them, nature’s way of reminding you to carry an umbrella). This includes places like Eastern Macuata, Cakaudrove, Navua-Suva-Nausori, Tailevu-Naitasiri, Ra, Lau, and the lovely Lomaiviti group. Elsewhere may be partly cloudy too but trust us, it’s nothing you need to dress up for.

Now, let’s talk about those rain and thunderstorms that are planning to crash the party from the west. They’re coming in as the east to northeasterly winds start to shift gears. You might want to brace yourselves for a moderate sea—nothing too rough if you’re on a boat, but definitely rougher than a leisurely swim.

Tonight is going to be cool—perfect for cozying up with your favorite snack and some TV time.

Looking ahead to Monday, the weather seems like it may not want to behave itself. We’re forecasting occasional rain and a few isolated thunderstorms—nothing too chaotic, just enough to remind you to keep those raincoats handy! Isolated heavy showers may wander on in too, potentially making some low-lying areas a bit too reflective—flash flooding is a possibility, so keep an eye out!

Now, let’s break it down by area:

For Navua / Suva / Nausori: Partly cloudy with brief showers today. Expect rain and thunderstorms to join the mix later.

For Nadi / Lautoka / Ba: A similar situation—partly cloudy and cool nighttime vibes. Thunderstorms will be rolling in to liven things up later.

For Coral Coast/Sigatoka: Enjoy the brief showers and cool nights. Thunderstorms will be the surprise guests today!

For Tavua/Rakiraki: Partly cloudy with a few brief showers, but don’t call it a night too early—thunderstorms are on their way!

For Yasawa/Mamanuca group: Partly cloudy with cool nights ahead. Let’s just say Sunday’s schedule includes a bit of rain and thunderstorms.

For Rotuma, a friendly reminder that a STRONG WIND WARNING is still in effect; these winds are feeling quite strong—making sure you hold onto your hats! Occasional showers and a few thunderstorms are expected as well.

No matter where you are across our beautiful islands, be prepared for a mix of sun and rain, with a sprinkle of adventure courtesy of Mother Nature. Happy weather watching!
