Weather Update
Brought to you by the National Weather Forecasting Centre Nadi, at 11:00pm on Thursday, April 24, 2025

Alright, folks, let’s talk about what’s brewing in the weather cauldron for Fiji, shall we?

Today’s forecast: We’ll be basking in fine weather overall, with just a little hiccup of brief showers gracing the southeastern parts of Viti Levu (that’s Serua-Namosi, Navua-Suva-Nausori for the weather nerds in the house), along with Southern Bua, Cakaudrove provinces, Lau, Lomaiviti, Kadavu, and those tiny islands nearby. But fear not! The rest of the islands will be just fine – probably so fine that you’d take out your sunglasses just to show off your style!

Now, for tomorrow, things are getting a tad cloudier, especially in those same southeastern locations. So, pack your umbrella because showers are expected to join the party. And remember, while the sun is still your buddy, you might want to keep an eye on the sky for a potential afternoon or evening electric show – yes, thunderstorms might be flexing their muscles over the interior and western half of Viti Levu.

Today’s breezy companions are moderate southeasterly winds, but tomorrow they’ll straighten their ties and switch to fresh east to southeast winds. As for the seas, they’ll be moderate today but may get a bit rough around the edges, so watch your step!

And looking ahead to Saturday, expect a repeat performance of cloudiness and showers over the southeastern regions, while the rest of you can bask in some sunshine – or at least a chance of it, with possible showers in the afternoons or evenings.

Now, let’s get into the nitty-gritty for specific locales:

Navua / Suva / Nausori: Today’s plan looks bright with brief showers crashing the party. Tomorrow, bring out the clouds and showers again. Saturday? You guessed it – it’s a cloudy reprise.

Sigatoka/Coral Coast: Smiles all around with fine weather, but keep a lookout for those sneaky afternoon showers tomorrow. Saturday? Same game plan – fine, with a likelihood of those pesky showers.

Nadi / Lautoka / Ba: Looking fine today, but tomorrow could bring afternoon showers and maybe a thunderstorm to spice things up. Saturday is all about fine weather along with a potential shower cameo.

Tavua/Rakiraki: Today is pleasant with a little brief shower action over Rakiraki, but tomorrow clouds will step in, bringing some showers along. Saturday? More clouds and showers lurking.

Natadradave/Korovou: Fine weather today with a brief shower option. Tomorrow clouds enter the scene with some showers. Saturday will feature that charming cloud cover and more showers.

Yasawa/Mamanuca group: Today is glorious, just watch out for the sneaky showers. Tomorrow may involve some afternoon thunderstorms, too, because it’s hard to resist a good show. Saturday brings back fine weather with a chance of more showers and those cheeky thunderstorms.

Labasa: Similarly, today’s fine, with possible afternoon thunderstorm antics tomorrow. Saturday looks fine, with more showers potentially joining the fun.

Savusavu: Today is all sunshine with a hint of brief showers, but tomorrow clouds will pull up a chair, with some showers coming along. Saturday? More clouds and showers to keep us on our toes.

Lau/ Lomaiviti and Kadavu: Today, we play it fine apart from brief showers, but expect showers and clouds creeping in tomorrow for both areas. Saturday continues the trend with clouds and more showers.

And for our friends at Rotuma: A weak trough is lingering, bringing some occasional showers and isolated thunderstorms. So, pack your patience! Winds are moderate, seas too, and the forecast for Saturday looks quite similar, so stay prepared!

There you have it – the weather word on our beautiful islands. Remember to stay hydrated and embrace whatever Mother Nature throws your way!
