Weather Update

Gather ’round, Fiji! It’s time for your weather gossip fresh off the press from the National Weather Forecasting Centre, and boy, do we have a mixed bag for you this weekend!

Right now, the south to southwest winds are blowing through the group, providing a breezy backdrop to our current drama—a weak trough nudging its way in. Picture it like a shy guest at a party, slowly making its way through the crowd—this one brings clouds and showers along for some light discussions, expected to really stir things up later tonight. The good news? This guest should be on their way northeast by late Sunday, hopefully bringing some sunshine along with them!

As for the forecast until midnight tomorrow, expect more clouds than a conspiracy theorist’s mind, with a few showers popping up in various locations. There’s a chance of isolated afternoon or evening showers and some potential for thunderstorms—particularly over the Eastern and Interior parts of the larger island, along with Lau and Lomaiviti groups. So, if you plan on going out, pack an umbrella and maybe a rain dance routine, just in case!

Watch out for localized heavy falls that could lead to flash flooding in flood-prone areas. So, avoid those low-lying spots—unless you’re keen on turning your living room into a swimming pool!

Now, let’s stroll into the Sunday forecast. It appears we’ll be mostly fine with a sprinkle of isolated afternoon or evening showers and the return of thunderstorms over Vanua Levu, Taveuni, and some neighboring smaller islands. Grab your sunglasses, but keep the raincoats handy! The same localized heavy falls could come back to haunt us, so don’t let your guard down.

Here’s how your favorite spots are shaping up:

For Navua/Suva/Nausori: Cloudy with a few shy showers, and thunderstorms may decide to crash the party. Temperatures ranging from a cozy 24 to a steamy 33 degrees.

Natadradave/Korovou: More cloud cover and showers with the same temperature range— 24 to 33.

Sigatoka/Coral Coast: Enjoy cloudy moments with slightly less rain. It’ll be 24 to 33.

Nadi/Lautoka/Ba: Showers may tap at your window. Expect 24 to 34 degrees.

Tavua/Rakiraki: Similar story as above—cloudy and showers, 24 to 34.

Yasawa/Mamanuca group: No need to pack away that umbrella yet with a forecast of clouds and showers. It’ll be 24 to 33.

Labasa: A bit warmer here, with temperatures shooting up to 35. Don’t forget your sunblock if the sun decides to play nice!

Savusavu: Expect clouds and a sprinkle of showers with possible thunderstorms later. It’ll be a mild 24 to 33.

Nabouwalu: Embrace the clouds with chances of showers at 24 to 34.

Taveuni: Get ready for that rain dance! Temperatures at 24 to 33.

Lau and Lomaiviti group: Clouds and showers yet again, but don’t fret! 25 to 33 degrees should keep you comfy.

Kadavu: Encountering the same cloudy moods with a wave of showers at 25 to 34.

And last but not least, Rotuma: Those southwesterly winds will keep things breezy, with showers possible and temperatures not exceeding 32.

So, whether you’re sunbathing, dancing in the rain, or just contemplating life while dodging puddles, keep your spirits high and your weather forecasts handy! Enjoy your weekend, Fiji!
