Weather Update
Brought to you by the National Weather Forecasting Centre in Nadi, and because we all need to know if we should pack an umbrella or a floatie.
As of today, December 28, 2025, we have a weak trough of low pressure sweeping over the eastern side of the islands, which sounds more dramatic than it actually is. It’s accompanied by some shy clouds and showers that are a bit introverted, preferring to linger mostly in the east. Meanwhile, a thirst-quenching moist breeze from the east to northeast is circulating through the country, like something you’d only find in a tropical paradise (which, thankfully, we do).
Forecast until midnight tomorrow for the Fiji group:
Today, expect cloudy patches with some showers, perhaps tossing in an isolated afternoon or evening thunderstorm over Serua-Namosi, Navua-Suva-Nausori, Tailevu-Naitasiri-Ra, Eastern Macuata, Southern Bua, Cakaudrove, Taveuni, and nearby smaller islands, not to mention Lau and Lomaiviti groups, along with Kadavu and its sidekicks. Some isolated heavy falls might splash about, so watch out!
Further west, it’s looking fine—until the afternoon or evening when showers and some thunderstorms may decide to crash the party with their dramatic entrances.
You’ll experience moderate to fresh winds from the east to northeast that could gusty up in any areas under heavy precipitation and thunderstorms. The seas will be moderately to roughly choppy—think of them as the mood swings of the ocean.
Tomorrow, things will get a little more exciting. Showers will increase to occasional ones with a side of isolated thunderstorms over the same lucky eastern regions mentioned earlier. So, if you see any locals building arcs, join them!
Elsewhere, expect cloudy periods with afternoon or evening showers and those pesky thunderstorms again interrupting your fun. The winds will be fresh and moderate; make sure you don’t get blown away!
Outlook for Tuesday hints at more occasional showers, coupled with a few lively thunderstorms in our friendlier regions like Serua-Namosi, Navua-Suva-Nausori, and beyond.

Tuesday: More of the same cloudy deliciousness. Min: 22, Max: 31.
And remember, for western areas like Tavua/Rakiraki or southern spots like Kadavu, the pattern continues with a mix of fine weather and those surprise showers. Thunderstorms and maximum temperatures will try to outshine each other.
Rotuma will keep things chill with mainly fine weather and those gentle northeasterly winds—perfect for a relaxing day by the seas.
Stay safe and carry an umbrella or a good book; you never know when rain might come to crash your plans!
