Greetings from the National Weather Forecasting Centre, where we’re less about small talk and more about the big weather scoop! Grab your umbrellas and get ready for some fabulous sunshine – or not.
So, here’s the latest scoop for our beautiful Fiji group: a southeasterly wind has decided to make itself comfortable, ushering in a bit of clouds. Meanwhile, there’s a friendly trough of low pressure hanging out to the north, bringing some shower fun in its wake.
From now until midnight tomorrow, get ready for a mix of cloudy periods and brief showers, particularly in Serua-Namosi, Navua-Suva-Nausori, Naitasiri-Tailevu North, Ra-Rakiraki, Cakaudrove, and southern Bua province, plus Taveuni, nearby islands, Kadavu, and the Lau and Lomaiviti groups. They’re getting the VIP treatment of moisture! The rest of you can expect to be mostly fine, though a few afternoon or evening showers will crash the party. Just so we’re clear, Viti Levu and Vanua Levu are in for some afternoon thunderstorms – nature’s own fireworks display, complete with heavy downpours leading to potential flash floods in low-lying areas.
Moderate southeast winds are mapping out the scene, and those seas are also in moderate mood.
Looking ahead to Tuesday: more cloudy periods and shower fun for the usual suspects (you know, those places like Serua-Namosi and Navua-Suva-Nausori). The rest will be mostly fine but keep an eye out for isolated afternoon thunderstorms that might just decide to turn things up a notch.
Now, here’s what to expect in specific regions:
**For Navua / Suva / Nausori:** Cloudy periods will come with brief showers. And yes, afternoon thunderstorms may just rain on your parade. Minimum: 24°C, Maximum: 32°C today and tomorrow.
**For Natadradave/Korovou:** It’s cloudy with brief showers and some possible thunderstorms. Same temperature forecast as above.
**For Sigatoka/Coral Coast:** Radiant sunshine, except for those sneaky afternoon showers. Today should be sunny with a maximum of 32°C.
**For Nadi / Lautoka / Ba:** Expect beautiful weather interrupted by those infamous afternoon thunderstorms. Today’s high might just reach 33°C.
**For Tavua/Rakiraki:** Think fine weather with a sprinkle of possible thunderstorms in the afternoons.
**For Yasawa/Mamanuca group:** More of that same fine weather, but don’t raise your guard! Still looking at those heavy falls in the afternoons.
**For Labasa:** Fair and sunny, except for those typical afternoon thunderstorms trying to steal the limelight.
**For Savusavu:** Cloudiness with a promise of some brief showers and isolated thunderstorms.
**For Nabouwalu:** Keep those umbrellas handy with cloudy spells and brief showers.
**For Taveuni:** Just like yesterday, expect cloudy periods accompanied by brief showers.
**For Lau and Lomaiviti group:** Cloudy periods with brief showers will be the theme!
**For Kadavu:** Cloudy periods with brief drops of rain are on the agenda for today and tomorrow.
**For Rotuma:** A trough of low pressure is keeping things lively with occasional showers, some thunderstorms, and a breeze to keep you on your toes as waves might get a bit rough.
