A STRONG WIND WARNING REMAINS IN FORCE FOR COASTAL LAND AREAS
Yasawa, Rakiraki, Nabouwalu, Udu Point, Taveuni and nearby smaller islands,
Lau and Lomaiviti groups, Kadavu and nearby smaller islands.
Situation:
A trough of low pressure sits slow-moving over the eastern and northern parts of the group. Another trough is expected to develop and approach from the west later Monday. Cloud, showers and rain are likely to affect most parts of the country through to Wednesday.
Forecast to midnight tomorrow for the Fiji group:
– For coastal land areas of Yasawa, Rakiraki, Nabouwalu, Udu Point, Taveuni and nearby smaller islands, Lau and Lomaiviti group, Kadavu and nearby smaller islands:
East to southeast winds up to 45 km/hr. Winds will gradually ease and become moderate to fresh east to northeasterly from tomorrow.
– For rest of Fiji:
Moderate to fresh east to southeast winds, becoming east to northeast from tomorrow.
Rough seas becoming moderate to rough seas from tomorrow.
Today:
Some showers over the Northern Division, Lau and Lomaiviti groups, Serua–Namosi, Navua–Suva–Nausori, Tailevu–Naitasiri–Ra, Kadavu and nearby smaller islands. Showers becoming frequent from tomorrow night. Localised heavy falls may bring flash-flooding to low-lying areas. Fine elsewhere, with a cool night.
Tomorrow:
Occasional showers and possible thunderstorms over Northern Division, Lau and Lomaiviti groups, Serua–Namosi, Navua–Suva–Nausori, Tailevu–Naitasiri–Ra, Kadavu and nearby smaller islands. Showers becoming frequent and increasing to rain from later Tuesday. Localised heavy falls may lead to flash-flooding of low-lying areas. Cloudy periods with some showers and possible thunderstorms elsewhere. Cool at night.
Outlook for Tuesday:
Occasional rain and isolated thunderstorms across the Northern Division, Lau and Lomaiviti groups, Kadavu and nearby smaller islands, Serua–Namosi, Navua–Suva–Nausori, Tailevu–Naitasiri–Ra. Isolated heavy falls likely, with localised flash-flooding of low-lying areas. Occasional showers and possible thunderstorms elsewhere. Cool at night.
For Navua / Suva / Nausori:

A STRONG WIND WARNING REMAINS IN FORCE FOR LAND AREAS AND WATERS OF ROTUMA.
Situation: A trough of low pressure with the associated cloud and showers affects Rotuma. An easterly wind flow prevails over the island. Some showers and possible isolated thunderstorms. Southeast winds around 45 km/hr. Rough seas.
Today’s max: 29°C
Tomorrow: 29°C max, 23°C min.
Outlook Tuesday: Some showers and possible isolated thunderstorms. Max 29°C, Min 23°C.
Note:
– A strong wind warning remains in effect for coastal areas and Rotuma. Prepare for gusty conditions along the coast and at sea.
– Showers may be heavy at times with the potential for flash-flooding in low-lying areas, especially where thunderstorms occur.
– Winds are forecast to ease gradually from tomorrow, but stay alert for sudden changes in gusts, especially near coastal and exposed areas.
– Temperatures are overall cool at night; daytime highs sit around the upper 20s Celsius.
