Summary
A strong wind warning continues for several coastal zones, and Rotuma has its own strong wind alert for land and seas. A trough of low pressure is wandering slowly just south of the group, with another one expected to edge in from the northeast tomorrow. Cloud and showers will affect the northern and eastern parts of Fiji over the next few days. If you’re planning outdoor activities near the coast or on the water, you’ll want to keep an eye on the forecast and maybe keep a towel handy for dramatic wind-swept hair.
Forecast to midnight tomorrow for the Fiji group
– Coastal land areas of Yasawa, Rakiraki, Nabouwalu, Udu Point, Taveuni and nearby smaller islands, Lau and Lomaiviti group, Kadavu and nearby smaller islands: Southeast winds up to 45 km/h.
– Rest of Fiji: Moderate to fresh southeast winds, gusty at times. Rough seas.
Today
Cloudy periods with some showers across Serua-Namosi, Navua-Suva-Nausori, Tailevu-Naitasiri-Ra, Kadavu and nearby smaller islands, Cakaudrove, Southern Bua, Taveuni and nearby smaller islands, and the Lau and Lomaiviti groups. Isolated heavy falls possible. Elsewhere, partly cloudy with isolated brief showers possible during the night. It will feel cool at night.
