A strong wind warning remains in force for coastal land areas.
Areas covered by the warning: Yasawa, Rakiraki, Nabouwalu, Udu Point, Taveuni and nearby smaller islands; the Lau and Lomaiviti groups; Kadavu and nearby smaller islands.
Situation: A weak trough of low pressure is slow moving over the eastern parts of the group. Another trough is expected to develop and approach from the west later today. Cloud, showers and rain are expected to affect most places through to later Wednesday.
Forecast to midnight tonight for the Fiji group:
– Coastal land areas of Yasawa, Rakiraki, Nabouwalu, Udu Point, Taveuni and nearby smaller islands; Lau and Lomaiviti group; Kadavu and nearby smaller islands: East to southeast winds up to 45 km/hr. Winds should ease gradually and become moderate to fresh east to northeasterly from tomorrow.
– Rest of Fiji: Moderate to fresh east to southeast winds, becoming east to northeast from tomorrow. Rough seas becoming moderate to rough from tomorrow.
Today
– Some showers over the Northern Division, Lau and Lomaiviti groups, Serua-Namosi, Navua-Suva-Nausori, Tailevu-Naitasiri-Ra, Kadavu and nearby smaller islands. Showers may become more frequent from tomorrow night.
– Localised heavy falls may lead to flash flooding of low-lying areas.
– Fine elsewhere, though isolated afternoon or evening showers are possible.
– Nighttime temperatures will feel cool.
Tomorrow
– Occasional showers and possible thunderstorms over the Northern Division, Lau and Lomaiviti groups, Serua-Namosi, Navua-Suva-Nausori, Tailevu-Naitasiri-Ra, Kadavu and nearby smaller islands. Showers become frequent and may increase to rain from later Tuesday.
– Cloudy periods with some showers and possible thunderstorms elsewhere.
– Nighttime temperatures cool.
Outlook for Tuesday
– Occasional rain and isolated thunderstorms across the Northern Division, Lau and Lomaiviti groups, Kadavu and nearby smaller islands, Serua-Namosi, Navua-Suva-Nausori, Tailevu-Naitasiri-Ra. Isolated heavy falls are likely.
– Localised heavy falls may lead to flash flooding of low-lying areas.
– Occasional showers and possible thunderstorms elsewhere.
For Navua / Suva / Nausori
– Today: Some showers, with showers becoming frequent from tomorrow night. Cool at night.
– Tomorrow: Occasional showers and possible thunderstorms.

For Nadi / Lautoka / Ba

For Sigatoka / Coral Coast
– Today: Fine aside from possible afternoon or evening showers. Cool at night.
– Tomorrow: Cloudy periods with some showers and possible thunderstorms.

For Tavua / Rakiraki

– Outlook for Tuesday: Some showers and possible isolated thunderstorms. Max 29°C, Min 23°C.
Note: Stay alert for possible localised heavy falls and flash flooding in low-lying areas, especially where showers are more frequent. Dress for a breeze and bring a light jacket for the cool nights. If you’re heading to sea, expect choppy conditions and higher winds in exposed areas.
