Situation: A weak trough of low pressure is lying over the group. Clouds and rain are likely to affect parts of the country through to tomorrow, while Fiji continues to feel a fresh east to southeast wind flow.

Forecast to midnight tonight for the Fiji group:
– Expect occasional showers over southern Bua, Cakaudrove, Kadavu and nearby smaller islands, plus the Yasawa, Mamanuca, Lau and Lomaiviti groups. Showers should ease gradually from later today.
– Isolated heavy falls are possible.
– Localised heavy showers may cause flash flooding in low-lying areas.
– Elsewhere, partly cloudy with isolated showers, especially in the afternoon, evening or overnight.
– Isolated afternoon or evening thunderstorms may occur.
– Winds: moderate to fresh east to southeast.
– Seas: moderate to rough.

Outlook for Wednesday: Cloudy periods with some showers over Serua–Namosi, Navua–Suva–Nausori, Tailevu–Naitasiri–Ra, Kadavu and nearby smaller islands, Cakaudrove and Southern Bua provinces, Lau and Lomaiviti groups. Isolated heavy falls possible. Fine apart from isolated afternoon or evening showers and thunderstorms elsewhere.

Note: If you’re in the path of those showers, keep the umbrella handy and your shoes dry. The heavier downpours could stir up a splash or two, especially in low-lying areas. And if you’re planning to be out on the water, check the sea conditions as winds and seas can be a tad adventurous.
