Weather Update
Hold onto your umbrellas, folks! The heavy rain alert that had the entire Fiji group hiding indoors has finally been called off. Consider this your signal to step outside—without your trusted raincoat—at least for today!
Our beloved meteorologists report a cheeky trough of low pressure hanging out just west of Viti Levu, while another lazy trough is lounging over eastern Vanua Levu. This means a bit of cloud cuddling and showering will stick around for some parts of the country today, with a friendly northeast wind bringing a gentle breeze—ideal for sailing or… kite flying, if you’re feeling adventurous!
Here’s what you can expect until midnight tomorrow: Occasional showers and possibly some thunder to get your attention in the eastern regions of Viti Levu (think Greater Suva, Nausori, and so forth), as well as in Southern Bua, Eastern Cakaudrove provinces, Lau and Lomaiviti group, Kadavu, and nearby islands. Don’t forget your sunglasses—just in case the sun decides to peek through those clouds! And keep an eye on the ground; localized heavy rain might want to turn your favorite low lying spots into stylish swimming pools.
The winds will be moderate to fresh from the east-northeast, but prepare for the occasional gust—especially if you find yourself under a heavy downpour. So, maybe keep your hat on tight!
For the intrepid sailors out there, we recommend you brace for moderate to rough seas. In simpler terms, hold onto your hats and anything else that might go airborne!
Looking ahead to Tuesday, expect a repeat performance: cloudy periods with some showers and possible thunderstorms in the eastern regions. Elsewhere, it looks like the sun might actually show up. Okay, maybe not that dramatic, but you get it—staying alert for those afternoon or evening showers is key.
