Weather Update

Greetings from the National Weather Forecasting Centre in Nadi! Buckle up as we navigate our way through the forecast for the Fiji islands—where the only thing more variable than the weather is the WiFi signal!

As we step into the evening, expect some cloudy interludes with a sprinkle here and there, particularly around Labasa-Namuka-Udu Point, and the interior regions of Wailevu, Vaturova, and Saqani. Taveuni and its surrounding mini-islands are also expected to join the soggy party along with our lovely friends in Lau and the Lomaiviti groups.

If you’re in the Natadola-Nadi-Lautoka-Ba-Tavua-Rakiraki area, rejoice! It’s looking fine for now, with only a few quick showers to disrupt your sunbathing plans. However, pack your raincoat if you’re hanging out in Ba, Ra, Naitasiri, or Tailevu North, because the afternoon brings the potential for some dramatic showers and perhaps a thunderstorm or two. Just think of it as nature’s way of keeping things exciting—who doesn’t love a good weather spectacle?

The wind is gently whispering from the west to southwest, with seas that are moderate enough for a pleasant dip without feeling like you’re swimming in a washing machine.

Now, on to Friday’s forecast, which looks like an encore of today’s show with cloudy intervals and some rain showers over Sigatoka-Nadi-Lautoka-Ba-Tavua-Rakiraki and the interior regions. Meanwhile, other places will bask in the fine weather, punctuated by the occasional shower and thunderstorms flexing their muscles. Just remember, that localized heavy rainfall could lead to flash flooding in those sneakily low areas—you know who you are!

For our friends in Navua, Suva, and Nausori, brace yourself for mainly fine weather, but keep an eye out for afternoon showers and a thunderstorm that could drop it like it’s hot.

Moving on to local temperatures—today has been a sizzling 32 degrees, and tomorrow will stick around the same heat, with a cozy night at 24. And Friday? Expect a similar affair, give or take a degree or two!

In Labasa, the clouds are feeling generous with brief showers, and isolated thunderstorms may crash the party later on.

For the picturesque Yasawa and Mamanuca groups, good news! It’s mainly fine apart from brief showers. Sounds perfect for a lazy beach day, right? Just keep your umbrella close for those sneaky afternoon thunderstorms.

Taveuni and Kadavu will also see cloudy periods with some flurries of rain. So, if you’re thinking about taking a stroll, consider bringing that stylish rain jacket along—you might just start a trend!

And let’s not forget about the beautiful Rotuma, where northerly winds keep things breezy and fine, with merely a sprinkle of showers to keep things interesting.

So whether you’re dripping with sweat from the humidity or contemplating a swim while dodging lightning, remember—the weather may surprise you, but at least it keeps life lively!
