Weather Update
Issued by the esteemed meteorological wizards at the National Weather Forecasting Centre in Nadi, here’s how the skies are looking for January 29, 2026, at the lovely hour of 2:40 AM.
Hold onto your umbrellas, folks! A HEAVY RAIN WARNING is still in place for the Fiji Group, while the Yasawa and Mamanuca Groups, along with Northern Vanua Levu, Western and Northern Viti Levu, Kadavu, and nearby islands, are experiencing STRONG WIND warnings. So, if you were planning to take a leisurely stroll with your beach hat, maybe reconsider—unless you fancy a bit of a drenching and a scenic wind tunnel experience.
Our tropical friend, Tropical Depression TD07F, is chilling 450 km West-Southwest of Nadi, moving south at a leisurely pace of about 10 knots. It’s sending us its love in the form of clouds and rain.
So, what’s the forecast calling for? Expect strong north to northwest winds with speeds up to 55 km/hr—think of them as nature’s way of blowing the cobwebs off your porch! Gusts could whip up to 85 km/hr, which is basically nature’s version of a high-five.
Prepare for some rain showers that may come down with the enthusiasm of a toddler splashing in a puddle. Heavy falls are expected over the Yasawa & Mamanuca group, Western and Northern Viti Levu (that means you, Momi, Nadi, Lautoka, and more), as well as the interior regions nearby—plenty of chances for fun puddle jumping! Just a heads up, persistent heavy rain could lead to flash flooding, so keep an eye on those water levels, folks!
Looking ahead to Saturday, anticipate occasional showers and a few thunderstorms over the eastern and inland territories of Viti Levu. Localized heavy falls may just have you constructing your own mini ark, but at least it’s a free shower!
