Weather Update Time!
Issued from the National Weather Forecasting Centre Nadi at a bright and hopeful 10:45 am on Friday, 16th January 2026.

Great news — the previously dreaded HEAVY RAIN WARNING for the Northern and Eastern parts of our paradise has been lightened to a HEAVY RAIN ALERT. Think of it as rain saying, “I’m here, but not here to ruin your day!”

On the other hand, we’ve got a FLASH FLOOD ALERT still flashing its neon lights for the whole of Fiji. So, grab those floaties and keep an eye on the puddles!

Here’s the scoop: A mischievous trough of low pressure accompanied by clouds and rain is still giving those northern and eastern parts a wet surprise party, while a tropical breeze from the north to northwest is like a friendly reminder that moisture is still in the air.

Forecast until midnight tomorrow for the Fiji group:
Brace yourself for occasional rain and the stirring drama of thunderstorms in Vanua Levu, Taveuni, and the charming smaller islands nearby, along with Lau and Lomaiviti groups. Don’t worry; the rain will be easing to just showers by tomorrow — like a gentle nudge rather than a full-on splash!

Cloudier moments with intermittent showers are expected over Nadi-Lautoka-Ba-Tavua-Rakiraki and the lovely interiors of Ba and Ra, Naitasiri, and Tailevu North. The rest can expect fine and dandy weather, with the possibility of afternoon or evening showers and thunderstorms crashing the party — just like uninvited guests.

Heads up for localised heavy rain falls; they might lead to flash flooding in those persistently low-lying areas, along with small rivers and streams opting for a bit of excitement.

Outlook for Sunday: More cloudy periods with some showers over Nadi-Lautoka-Ba-Tavua-Rakiraki, Interior of Ba and Ra, Naitasiri and Tailevu North, and even those lovely spots in Bua-Lekutu-Dreketi-Seaqaqa-Labasa-Namuka-Udu point. As for the rest? They can anticipate fine weather with the chance of a surprise shower or two.
