Weather Update
As of Thursday night, January 29, 2026

Hold onto your umbrellas, folks! A HEAVY RAIN ALERT is still in effect for our friends in the Northern Division, the Eastern and interior parts of Viti Levu, Kadavu, and those tiny islands that like to tag along. You know who you are—Lau and Lomaiviti groups!

Currently, we’ve got a north to northwest wind flow keeping things breezy—and maybe a little dramatic, if you like your weather with a side of flair. Starting tomorrow, a trough of low pressure is set to sweep over the northern and eastern parts of Fiji. Not to worry, though; it’s not the end of the world—just the world of clear skies!

Forecasting through midnight tomorrow, expect the sky to occasionally cry over places like Serua-Namosi, Navua-Suva-Tailevu, Naitasiri-Ra, the Northern Division, and yes, Kadavu and its charming neighbors. Cloudy periods with the chance of showers everywhere else invite you to snuggle up with hot cocoa while you watch the raindrops dance on your window.

For the thrill-seekers, isolated thunderstorms are on the menu. Just imagine: lightning, thunder, and localised heavy falls that may lead to flash flooding! So, if you live in those low-lying flood-prone areas, now’s your chance to practice your swimming techniques… just kidding!

As for the wind, expect moderate to fresh north to northwest breezes turning into west to southwest winds by tomorrow. The waters will be moderate to rough, so maybe keep your boat trips to a minimum—or at least grab a life vest!

Saturday’s forecast: More of the same—occasional showers and a sprinkle of thunderstorms over Navua-Suva-Nausori-Korovou-Rakiraki, as well as other regions further south. Don’t worry, though; the clouds will be generous enough to share their refreshments, potentially leading to more areas becoming flash flood aficionados.

For specific locations:

**Navua/Suva/Nausori:** Occasional rain and some isolated thunderstorms. Tomorrow’s low will be around 24°C, with a high of 30°C.

**Natadradave/Korovou:** The rain will take a breather tomorrow, but not before it showers its love. Expect similar temperatures: Min: 24 °C, Max: 30 °C.

**Sigatoka/Coral Coast:** Cloudy with some rain, and you guessed it—isolated thunderstorms continuing their tour. Min: 24 °C, Max: 30 °C.

**Nadi/Lautoka/Ba:** Cloudy again! Showers and thunderstorms can come by for a visit. Min: 24 °C, Max: 31 °C.

**Tavua/Rakiraki:** You know the drill—cloudy, showery, and thunderous electric fun. Min: 24 °C, Max: 31 °C.

**Yasawa/Mamanuca:** Cloudy periods and occasional showers, with thunderstorms dropping by. Same deal, Min: 24 °C, Max: 31 °C.

**Labasa:** Occasional rain with thunderstorms is almost guaranteed. Expect the same temperature pattern.

**Savusavu:** A bit of rain, a dash of thunder! Same forecast continues for Saturday as well.

**Nabouwalu:** Occasional rain and some booming clouds join the fun.

**Taveuni:** Occasional rain with thunderstorms dancing around again.

**Lau and Lomaiviti:** Rain on the horizon. They’ve got style, don’t they?

**Kadavu:** Put your windbreakers on because it’s gonna be breezy with winds up to 45 km/hr! Plus, occasional rain to keep things interesting.

**Rotuma:** A STRONG WIND WARNING is still very much a part of the plan for your waters and land areas. Hold onto your hat and enjoy the show!

That’s all for now! Keep those umbrellas handy, and don’t forget to splash in the puddles—responsibly, of course!
