Weather Update
Greetings, fellow weather watchers! Grab your umbrellas and hold onto your hats because we’ve got a weather extravaganza on the horizon. As of 3:06 PM on this fine Tuesday, January 27th, 2026, a HEAVY RAIN ALERT is declaring war on the Fiji Group, with a STRONG WIND ALERT for our friends in Yasawa and Mamanuca, northern Vanua Levu, western and northern Viti Levu, Kadavu, and their delightful neighboring islands.
What’s stirring the pot? Ah, Tropical Disturbance TD07F – sounds ominous, doesn’t it? It’s sneaking its way south-southeast between Vanuatu and Fiji, ready to shower us with its heaviest rainfall and whip up some winds that could probably blow your hat into next week.
For the rest of today and until midnight tomorrow, expect some moderate to fresh east to northeast winds, but our Yasawa and Mamanuca pals should brace for strong northwest winds reaching up to 55 km/hr and gusts that could knock the sandals off your feet at 85 km/hr. Talk about a windy welcome!
The seas will be moderate to rough, possibly leading to some high seas adventures if you’re into that sort of thing (life vests advised!). Meanwhile, over in other areas, we’re mostly looking at some sunny spells with a chance of those pesky afternoon or evening showers coming in for a chat.
Now, don’t let your rubber boots gather dust just yet, as we expect rain and thunderstorms to boom their way from the west starting tomorrow. Localized heavy falls may lead to flash flooding for low-lying areas, so let’s keep an eye out—no swimming in the puddles!
For Thursday, the forecast isn’t pulling any punches—a mix of occasional rain, heavy at times, and a few electrifying thunderstorms could set the tone for the day. Grab your raincoats, perhaps consider an ark, and expect the winds to still be strong enough to make you reconsider your hairstyle.
Now a quick dive into the local conditions starting with Navua, Suva, and Nausori – a cloudy affair with some showers, so don’t be surprised if you’re nodding along to the rhythm of raindrops. Your temperatures will flirt between a minimum of 22 and a maximum of 32.
For our friends in Natadradave and Korovou, get ready for those strong winds and keep an eye on the skies, as the impending rain and thunderstorms are preparing to dazzle you all. Highs will be around 32, and you might want to surrender the parasol for something more aerodynamic!
Over in Sigatoka and the Coral Coast, it’s a cloudy shindig with brief showers; typical Fiji vibes! You’ll have highs dancing at 32, but keep those wet weather gear near just in case.
Now let’s spin the globe towards Nadi, Lautoka, and Ba, where similar strong winds await you. Expect some sunshine in between those showers, and don’t forget—rain and thunderstorms are ready to crash your outdoor plans.
As for Tavua and Rakiraki, we’re serving up strong winds and the usual suspects of showers and thunderstorms. Enjoy a bit of sunshine while temperatures hit the low 30s before rain pays a visit.
The Yasawa and Mamanuca groups, brace yourselves because it’s windy and showery! Rain beasts will be lurking, but the temperatures will be perfect for pushing your luck with outdoor activities if you dare.
Labasa gets a similar treat, and Savusavu will not be left out either – pour yourself a lovely warm drink, as showers and the thunderous rumbles will shake things up.
Nabouwalu will see similar weather; meanwhile, Taveuni is set for the same cloudy party with showers making their entry on the guest list.
As for our tropical paradise of Lau and Lomaiviti, your brief showers may provide a refreshing break but radar suggests rain and thunderstorms just around the corner.
And finally, lovely Rotuma – you’re looking at a blend of fine weather and brief showers while keeping it breezy. Don’t let that stillness fool you; the weather gods may have a few surprises up their sleeves tomorrow.
In summary, it’s a mix of wet and wild out there, so prepare for anything and enjoy the rollercoaster weather adventures ahead!
