Fiji Weather Alert: Strong Winds and Heavy Rain Warnings in Effect

Spread the love

A strong wind advisory has been issued for coastal areas of Rakiraki, Western Bua, as well as the land regions of Yasawa, Lomaiviti, and the Northern and Central Lau groups in Fiji. According to the Fiji Meteorological Service’s bulletin released at 10:45 AM, these regions are expected to experience southeasterly winds reaching speeds of up to 45 km/h. Fortunately, the winds are predicted to lessen to moderate to fresh levels starting later tomorrow.

In addition to the wind warnings, there is also a heavy rain warning currently in effect for the Northern division and the Northern Lau group. However, the heavy rain alert that was previously in place for the Central and Eastern divisions, along with the Yasawa group, has now been lifted.

It is advisable for residents in the affected areas to take necessary precautions, particularly due to potential impacts from both the winds and the ongoing heavy rainfall. Weather conditions can change rapidly, and staying informed will help ensure safety for everyone in the affected regions.

Overall, while some areas may experience adverse weather conditions, the eventual easing of the winds and cancellation of certain heavy rain alerts signals a hopeful return to calmer weather in the near future.
