Weather Update

Issued by the National Weather Forecasting Centre in Nadi at 7:30pm on Monday, December 29, 2025

Hold onto your umbrellas, folks! We have a HEAVY RAIN ALERT in effect for our entire Fiji group, and it looks like Mother Nature is opening the floodgates! If you’re curious about all the juicy details, don’t forget to check out the Special Weather Bulletin on Heavy Rain at www.met.gov.fj/alerts/.

What’s brewing? An active trough of low pressure is on its way to Fiji from the west, packing clouds and rain. This wet surprise is expected to sweep through the islands starting Tuesday [30th Dec] and linger until Thursday [01st Jan]. In the meantime, we’re under the influence of some rather moist north to northeast winds, giving the whole place a lovely, soggy feel.

Forecast for You: Expect cloudy periods sprinkled with showers and the occasional thunderstorm, just to keep you on your toes. Most areas will experience heavy rain that may lead to flash flooding in low-lying regions. So, if you’re planning to wade through puddles tomorrow, it might just turn into a mini-adventure!

In case you’re curious about what the winds are up to, they’ll be blowing moderately to fresh from the north and northeast, with a little extra gustiness during those heavy downpours. And don’t forget about the sea; it’ll be moderately to rough, so if you thought today was the day for that paddleboard session, you might want to reconsider!

Looking ahead to Wednesday, we’re in for intermittent downpours with occasional heavy rain and a few thunderous surprises. Just a heads up: persistent heavy showers could lead to flash floods in prone areas, so keep your life jackets handy!

Here’s the lowdown for various spots around Fiji:

For Navua / Suva / Nausori: Prepare for a cloudy day with frequent showers and isolated thunderstorms. Tomorrow’s temperature ranges from a mild 24 to a toasty 30. Roll with it on Wednesday with the same temperature range and occasional rain.

For Natadradave/Korovou: It’s cloudy with some rain action and thunder as well. A cozy 24 to 30 awaits you tomorrow; did someone say rain dance for Wednesday?

For Sigatoka/Coral Coast: Expect a splashy day with the same rain predictions as above. You’ll see temps from 24 to 30 tomorrow and the same on Wednesday.

For Nadi / Lautoka / Ba: Clouds, showers, and that oh-so-joyful thunder will keep you company. Gear up for a min of 23 and max of 31 tomorrow; Wednesday is looking similar.

For Tavua/Rakiraki: Cloudy and a splash of rain will be your companions. Weather forecast is identical to the last, so 23 to 30 suits tomorrow and Wednesday perfectly.

For Yasawa/Mamanuca group: It’s the same rain-soaked story here with temperatures from 23 to 31. Keep it dry indoors, or embrace the wetness as you enjoy the scenery!

For Labasa: Showers, thunderstorms, and a delightful max of 31 with a min of 22 tomorrow loom ahead. Wednesday looks equally stormy.

For Savusavu: Cloudy with showers will be the reoccurring theme—24 to 30 will keep you warm tomorrow, with a splash on Wednesday.

For Nabouwalu, Taveuni, Lau and Lomaiviti group, and Kadavu: The forecast stays constant—clouds, some rain, and a good old thunderstorm. Temperatures hugging the 22-30 range tomorrow and Wednesday.

For Rotuma: Expect some moisture with north to northwest winds. It’s a warm 25 to 32, but don’t forget your rain gear!

So, whether you’re planning to cozy up in your home or face the puddles like a brave explorer, it’s going to be wet and wild out there! Stay safe and dry!
