Guests arriving from a cruise ship were warmly welcomed at Vunidawamoli Village in Wailevu, Cakaudrove, marking a significant milestone for the community. This group of twenty tourists was the first to engage in the newly launched Nukuramase Eco Tours, which aims to showcase the village’s rich culture and natural beauty.

During their visit, the guests enjoyed a variety of activities, including a guided village tour, exhilarating bilibili rides, and shopping for handmade souvenirs at the village hall. For many years, the community of Vunidawamoli had a dream of sharing their heritage with visitors but struggled with limited resources and access.

The realization of this dream was made possible through the collaborative efforts of the local community, the support of the Micro and Small Enterprise (MSE) program from the Ministry of Tourism and Civil Aviation, and ongoing technical guidance from the Na Vualiku Tourism Development Programme Office. With the assistance of a grant aimed at enhancing local tourism products, the ministry has helped the community build confidence and host visitors in a manner that meets Fiji’s tourism standards.

Looking ahead, Nukuramase Eco Tours is set to welcome more cruise ship guests in the upcoming months. The recent visit from the cruise ship MS Zaandam underscores the growing interest in the region and offers a promising outlook for the local tourism industry. This venture not only boosts the local economy but also allows the community to share its unique cultural identity with the world, fostering a deeper appreciation of Fiji’s diverse heritage.
