The Ministry of Employment and Workplace Relations, through the National Employment Center, has unveiled the Local Employment Registration System aimed at facilitating better connections between employers and potential employees. This innovative system provides a streamlined process for employers to access suitable talent, while assisting unemployed individuals in finding local and overseas job opportunities.

Agni Deo Singh, the Minister for Employment and Workplace Relations, emphasized that this initiative goes beyond merely filling job vacancies. He sees it as a critical step towards restoring dignity and building confidence for job seekers, while also fostering long-term career development. The goal, according to Singh, is to empower individuals with new opportunities and create a clear pathway to meaningful employment.

Additionally, Edward Bernard, Chief Executive Officer of the Fiji Commerce and Employers Federation, highlighted the system’s role in enhancing trust and transparency during the recruitment process. By verifying applications, the system aims to prevent the use of counterfeit or misleading qualifications. Bernard noted that this will lead to a more credible and reliable pool of candidates for employers, allowing job seekers to engage in a fair and secure hiring process.

This initiative represents a positive advancement in the employment landscape, ensuring that both employers and job seekers can benefit from a more efficient and trustworthy recruitment experience. As the system is implemented, it is hoped that it will significantly contribute to reducing unemployment and fostering economic growth in the region.
