The Digicel Fiji U16 team is set to return from Tahiti tomorrow after successfully securing their place in the FIFA U17 World Cup during the OFC U16 Championship.
Coach Sunil Kumar has announced that plans are in motion to arrange friendly matches as part of the team’s preparation for the World Cup. He indicated that discussions have already begun with coaches from New Zealand and New Caledonia to establish a tri-nation series aimed at enhancing the performance of all three teams ahead of the international tournament.
“Arranging test matches is our top priority at the moment. Immediately following the final, we explored the possibility of friendlies or a tri-nation series to help one another improve,” Kumar stated. He emphasized that moving forward with this plan would require the football boards involved to assess and make the necessary decisions.
