Tourism Fiji’s Chief Executive Officer, Brent Hill, will conclude his four-year tenure by the end of August 2025, as he plans to return to Australia with his family. His departure comes after a period marked by significant growth and transformation in Fijian tourism, particularly following the challenges posed by the global COVID-19 pandemic.
Andre Viljoen, the outgoing CEO of Fiji Airways and Chairman of Tourism Fiji, praised Hill for his outstanding leadership. He noted that during Hill’s time as CEO, Tourism Fiji launched two major strategic corporate plans, leading to record visitor arrivals that surpassed one million for the first time in history. Hill’s efforts not only advanced Fiji’s global tourism profile but also emphasized sustainability and community engagement, crucial aspects for the future of the tourism industry.
Under Hill’s leadership, initiatives aimed at reducing the carbon footprint were introduced, along with programs that supported local small businesses in the tourism sector. He also championed projects like the “Loloma Hour,” which encourages sustainable tourism practices and community support.
As the tourism sector in Fiji looks to the future, there is optimism for continued growth, thanks in part to Hill’s contributions. His departure marks a point of transition, and there is hope that the new leadership will build upon the solid foundation he established, driving further success for Fiji as a premier travel destination.
The positive outlook for Fiji’s tourism is also reflective of broader trends within the region, showcasing the resilience and innovative spirit of the industry as it navigates the post-pandemic landscape. The continued focus on sustainability and local community involvement suggests an encouraging path ahead for Tourism Fiji and its stakeholders.
